ATYPICAL ANTIPSYCHOTICS (for example, aripiprazole (Abilify®), ziprasidone (Geodon®), risperidone (Risperdal®), quetiapine (Seroquel®), or olanzepine (Zyprexa®)
Obtain baseline body mass index, waist circumference, blood pressure, comprehensive metabolic profile, fasting glucose, and a fasting lipid panel. Obtain body mass index monthly for 3 months and then quarter-yearly. Obtain blood pressure, fasting glucose, and lipids after 3 months and then every 6 months, sooner if major dose change. Repeat comprehensive metabolic profile yearly. Obtain Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale (AIMS) at baseline and at least every 6 months thereafter, sooner if major dose change. Consider EKG.
